Community Integrated Care hosts first Scotland Conference

Community Integrated Care held its first national conference for Scotland in Glasgow yesterday (13th June), featuring contributions from Care Inspectorate, ARC Scotland, SCLD, CCPS and Scottish Care.

Community Integrated Care is one of Britain’s biggest and most successful charities. In Scotland, it supports over 650 people, employs 1110 colleagues and has an annual turnover of £23m. The conference, which was led by the charity’s Managing Director for Scotland, Karen Sheridan, saw leaders at Community Integrated Care review its strategic progress and ambitious future plans. It also included presentations and workshops from sector thought-leaders, sharing their views on key social care issues in Scotland and current best practice.

The conference featured overviews of sector developments from Karen Reid, Chief Executive of Care Inspectorate, who discussed new changes to regulation, and Annie Gunner Logan, Director of CCPS, who shared her thoughts on the changing nature of social care in the nation.

It also had a considerable focus on promoting the rights and choice of people who access support. Chris Creegan, CEO of SCLD, presented a review of the progress in implementing the Keys to Life, Scotland’s learning disability strategy. Community Integrated Care also signed up to ARC Scotland’s Charter for Involvement with James Fletcher, Director of ARC, and formally adopted the Convention of Rights of Residents in Care Homes for Adults and Older People, with Donald Macaskill, CEO of Scottish Care.
