MP Visit Shows Impact at Griffin Lodge

Griffin Lodge, one of our charity’s care services in Stockport, recently welcomed Tom Morrison MP for a visit that showcased our transformative impact of high-quality, person-centred social care.

During the visit, Tom spent time meeting both the people supported at Griffin Lodge and the dedicated colleagues who work there. This provided an opportunity to hear first-hand about their experiences and the difference that tailored, community-based support can make in people’s lives.

Individuals supported by the service shared how Griffin Lodge has helped to improve their independence, wellbeing and overall quality of life. The visit offered a powerful insight into how personalised support enables people to pursue their interests, build confidence and live more fulfilling lives.

Cairi, Head of Complex Care at Community Integrated Care, said: “It was fantastic to welcome Tom Morrison MP to Griffin Lodge and showcase the life-changing impact of truly person-centred support, demonstrating what high-quality social care can achieve. We also highlighted the urgent need to address the challenges facing our sector, particularly fair pay, to ensure we can continue delivering the best possible support.”

Alongside the visit, important national policy issues affecting the social care sector were also discussed. This included the organisation’s Unfair to Care 2026 report, which calls for urgent action to address disparities in pay between social care and NHS roles.

Leaders highlighted how ongoing pay gaps continue to impact recruitment and retention across the sector, creating challenges for maintaining stability and continuity of care for people who rely on support. The discussion also explored the opportunities presented by the Casey Commission to drive long-term reform and sustainability in social care.

Overall, the visit reinforced the importance of continued engagement with policymakers to ensure that both people who draw on care and the workforce who support them are properly recognised, valued and invested in for the future.
