Community Integrated Care responds to the Autumn Budget 2026

Responding to the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget, Jim Kane, CEO of Community Integrated Care, said:

“The Chancellor is right to recognise that disabled people deserve better than a system that isn’t working for them. Measures to support unpaid carers, ease the cost of living and create more opportunities for young people are important, but there is still much more to do.”

“Social care continues to face enormous pressures, with rising costs, stretched services and a skilled workforce that deserves greater recognition and reward. The increase in the National Living Wage is welcome, as is the Government’s existing commitment to a Fair Pay Agreement.  But providers need sufficient funding to deliver these commitments, and this Budget was a missed opportunity to address the immediate financial pressures facing the sector while we await longer-term reform.”

“At Community Integrated Care, we see every day the difference that great support can make. Social care is about so much more than meeting basic needs. It’s about enabling people to build friendships, find work, be part of their communities and live the lives they choose. That’s why getting social care reform right matters so much.”

“The Government has spoken about its ambitions to reform social care, and we want to be part of making that happen. Now we need to see that ambition backed by the investment and action needed to make a real difference, both for the people who draw on support and the colleagues who provide it.”
