We join the People Plan for Social Care Launch

Community Integrated Care will be joining the Institute of Health & Social Care Management (IHSCM) today (Monday 28th March 2022) at the House of Lords, for the launch of IHSCM’s ambitious new People Plan for Social Care.

The plan is the result of a three month consultation with care providers, managers leaders and frontline employees in our sector, carried out by the IHSCM and the organisation’s Social Care Innovators People Plan Sub Committee.

Informed by insights from people working in the sector, the project sets out a series of recommendations for central and local governments and care providers, with a mission to build a ‘better and brighter future for social care and its workforce’, focussing on five main topics:

  • Public Perception of Career Image
  • Training
  • Recruitment
  • Retention and Staff Wellbeing
  • Pay and Benefits

Our charity’s Head of Resourcing, Olivea Alligrini-Jones, will be representing Community Integrated Care at the event, having previously contributed to the development of the plan as a member of the IHSCM’s Innovators Group.

Olivea said, “After proudly contributing to the project, I’m delighted to be joining The Institute of Health and Social Care Management (IHSCM) for today’s launch of the People Plan for Social Care. By collaborating with a whole host of people who work in social care, bringing together their views and ideas, the IHSCM have successfully captured the key needs and challenges currently faced by our sector and have put forward a compelling proposal for change.”

She continued, “The plan aligns with much of the campaign work that Community Integrated Care have carried out over the past 12 months, including the charity’s ground-breaking Unfair To Care report which called on the Government for increased reward and recognition for frontline care workers. We hope this will be another step in influencing the much needed change for our sector and look forward to seeing the positive impact this plan with have on the entire social care workforce.”

The launch event kicks off at 3pm and will see the People Plan for Social Care formally unveiled at the Palace of Westminster by Lord Philip Hunt of Kings Heath, President of the IHSCM. Find out more and read the full plan here.
