We celebrate International Women’s Day

Today, Community Integrated Care has been delighted to celebrate International Women’s Day, joining the cause to #InspireInclusion.

Throughout the day, we proudly spotlighted women supported by our charity, living across the UK, to celebrate their achievements and amplify their voices.

First, we shined a spotlight on Louise, a woman we support in Scotland. She shared her thoughts on International Women’s Day in a special video, wishing everybody watching a happy International Women’s Day!

We were also delighted to share the story of Aimee, who we support in the North West. Aimee is not only living independently, but thriving, as she navigates her educational pursuits and celebrates her prom!

Another incredible woman our organisation was proud to spotlight is Eleanor Deakin. As one of Community Integrated Care’s Support Squad Members, Elle works with the charity’s Partnerships and Communities team to make sporting events more accessible to wheelchair users and people with learning disabilities.

Eleanor said: “As a Support Squad Member, I play an important part in making amazing sporting events more accessible, from start to finish. My biggest highlight is contributing to a video for the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup – this really helped both wheelchair users and people with learning disabilities know what to expect and enjoy the sport!”

Finally, we spotlighted Catherine, a wonderful woman we support in the North East. Catherine gives her time to her local church, sharing: “I feel really proud to work at the church. I love being included in my community, and getting to make new friends, learn new things, and help other people.”

During the day, we were thrilled to share a special announcement, too. We’re delighted to announce that Liverpool FC Women’s Gemma Bonner has become an ambassador for Community Integrated Care.

Through her work with us and by sharing her story, Gemma has inspired so many women across our charity.

Thank you to all the incredible women we support who shared their stories this International Women’s Day, and thank you to Gemma for her amazing support to our charity. We look forward to working more closely with Gemma to create many more life-changing experiences for the people we support.
