The award recognises those who have excellent skills in motivation, are continuously striving for ways to be inclusive, and approach their role with passion and innovation.

The evening saw four more incredible nominations from Community Integrated Care, including:-

The award ceremony took place in Newcastle and forms part of the Great British Care Award’s regional events that celebrate excellence across the sector. The ceremonies continue to take place throughout this month across other regions, with Community Integrated Care celebrating 24 finalists in total. Winners from the regional events will go through to a National Finals taking place later this year.

Kirsty McMullen, Activity Coordinator at Charlotte Grange Care Home, says, “I’m so proud to win this award – it means so much to me! I’m in shock, but it really does make all the hard work over the past year worth it!”

She continued, “Lockdown was so tough on the people we support, but being able to keep them connected to their loved ones in new and innovative ways has been really rewarding. A huge well done to all my other nominated colleagues and finalists!”

Martin McGuigan, Managing Director of EachStep Care at Community Integrated Care says, “Kirsty has gone the extra mile in her work as Activity Co-ordinator, truly making a difference to the lives of the people she supports during an extremely challenging year.”

He continued, “Her work is a testament to our charity’s goals of passion, innovation and potential, and shows how important our colleagues are in driving these objectives forward. Well done Kirsty, and we look forward to see what you do next!”
