GROW engages and inspires over 4000 colleagues

In April, Community Integrated Care was delighted to launch our charity’s new, bespoke learning journey – GROW. Designed to identify the highly skilled nature of the Support Worker role, GROW supports our frontline colleagues to feel fully equipped to deliver the best care possible, and empower the people they support to live rich, fulfilling lives!

GROW is a go!Just 4 weeks in, and GROW has already inspired and engaged over 4000 colleagues who have completed over 50,000 pieces of learning.

Developed by our in-house Learning and Development team, GROW provides a multi-layered, holistic approach to learning and development, and is comprised of bitesize learning, virtual sessions, in-person workshops, reflective practice, practical exercises, mentoring and more.

GROW began its journey two years ago, when our Learning and Development Team were identifying learning required for colleagues supporting people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). The team discovered a raft of skills were needed to meet the requirements of the people supported, and whilst there were many practical ABI learning resources available, they found that providing our colleagues with this learning alone wouldn’t fully equip them to support people to live the best lives possible.

This realisation inspired the principles of GROW – creating an all-encompassing training solution, specifically for colleagues in social care, focussed on enhancing lives through comprehensive, person-centred learning.

Feedback on the programme so far from colleagues has been overwhelmingly positive, with comments such as, “GROW has helped me to develop my own skills and it has empowered me. I feel I can better enable the people we support to live their best lives possible.”

Natalie Powell, Senior Capability Development Manager at Community Integrated Care, said, “We are really proud of GROW – it has revolutionised the way we identify the true learning needs of our charity, whilst supporting us to design training that’s innovative and deliver it in a way that’s accessible to our incredible frontline colleagues.”

“When we were creating GROW, we were passionate about capturing the complex skills required of Support Workers and providing a learning experience that empowered and supported our teams to deliver outstanding care. Working together with specialists across our charity, I believe we have done just that!”
