Double success at Great North East Care Awards

Two Community Integrated Care services that support people with learning disabilities in the North East, Rose Beck Cottage and Finchley House, collected top honours at the prestigious Great North East Care Awards.

Lesa Kell, who manages Rose Beck Cottage in Durham, collected the Frontline Leader Award, which is given to a manager who demonstrates ‘Finchley House collect The Care Home Team Award from TV star Amanda Hammondstrong leadership qualities and supports others to bring about change’. The judges praised Lesa for enhancing the service provided at Rose Beck Cottage, her practical leadership skills and ability to make a difference. 

Lesa was joined by the staff team at Finchley House in Sunderland who collected The Care Home Team Award, which recognises teams that promote the dignity and inclusion of the people they support through strong teamwork. Award judges commended the team at Finchley House for their “person-centred approach, enthusiasm and their focus on supporting people to be part of the community”.

Community Integrated Care was also represented by award nominees Marlene Avenue, who were shortlisted for the Dignity in Care Award, and Broomside, who were shortlisted in the Care Home Team category.  

The awards took place at the Newcastle Hilton on 24th November and were presented by TV star Alison Hammond.

Lesa Kell of Rose Beck Cottage collects Frontline Leader AwarddThe Great North East Care Awards are supported by the Department of Health and are part of the Great British Care Awards, a series of regional awards which celebrates excellence in social care and recognise those who work in the sector throughout England.

CIC’s winners will now go forward to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards, taking place next year in London.
