Community Integrated Care is proud to support Carers Week 2018

Carers Week, Monday 11th June to Sunday 17th June, is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

The campaign is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to raise awareness across the UK with activities and events, drawing attention to just how important caring is.

Caring will touch every one of us in our lifetime, whether we become a carer or need care ourselves.

Community Integrated Care support over 3,500 people, across the UK, and with more than 5,500 staff, we understand the pressures carers face each and every day. Approximately 6.5 million people in the UK are carers, looking after a parent, partner, child or friend.

A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health problem or who needs extra help as they grow older.

The reality is caring for someone can be challenging, with responsibilities growing gradually over time. The amount and type of support that carers provide varies considerably, it can range from a few hours a week, such as picking up prescriptions and preparing meals, to providing care day and night.

The impact of caring on health and well-being should not be underestimated. This Carers Week we will be looking to share examples of good practice from supporters of which have helped carers to stay Healthy and Connected.
