Vocational Service awarded for 17th year
We are delighted to share that Community Integrated Care’s Vocational Support Service has been awarded the Autism Specialist Award, marking the 17th consecutive year that the team has achieved Autism Accreditation.
Our Vocational Support Service exists to empower people with a range of support needs to find meaningful work across Liverpool, St Helens and Knowsley. Offering opportunities to access vocational training, qualifications, and vital work experience, the service works with local organisations and big-name employers including the NHS, Tesco, Costa, and Oxfam, and proudly supports many autistic individuals.
As the UK’s only autism-specific quality assurance programme, Autism Accreditation is awarded by the National Autistic Society – recognising services that are truly committed to understanding the unique needs of autistic people and providing the very best, person-centred support.
Acting as a definitive mark of quality for services supporting autistic people, our Vocational Support Service was first awarded the accreditation 17 years ago, and has continued to achieve the recognition ever since.
Sharon Eakins, Service Leader for our Vocational Support Service, said of the exciting news: “The whole team and I are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded Autism Accreditation once again. The process of gaining the accreditation is incredibly rigorous. Over the past three years, we have worked closely with a member of the National Autistic Society, taking on board their feedback and learning from their expert guidance.”
“Achieving the accreditation is always a real group effort, and I couldn’t imagine a team more deserving. The support they provide is truly life-changing – it’s not just about the skills they support people to build, but also the incredible self-confidence that they enable people to discover too. With the team’s support, so many people have been able to achieve their biggest goals and find work that is deeply fulfilling for them. I’m incredibly proud of the whole team!”
