Strictly Star Hosts Special What To Do Session

Ahead of this Saturday’s final, Strictly Come Dancing royalty, Vincent Simone, hosted a ‘Strictly Special’ accessible dance class for Community Integrated Care, on our What To Do website.

The dance legend shared advice, inspiration and encouragement for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, making dreams come true for more than thirty dance lovers from across our charity.

Strictly Star hosts virtual dance class for our charity.

Greeted with gasps of shock and applause, the dance superstar partnered with our charity’s accessible dance instructor, Nicola Booth from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, to deliver a salsa inspired masterclass to our colleagues and the people we support.

The session saw Vincent break down some of his most famous routines – including his acclaimed dance to Irene Cara’s ‘What A Feeling’, which he famously performed as a showdance in the 2008 series final with popstar Rachel Stevens. With the chance to join in with Vincent and receive his expert advice, the participants were in awe of their dance hero.

Vincent also delivered a post-workshop Q&A and an exclusive performance, which was a fantastic Christmas surprise for everyone who joined the session.

Vincent said:

“It was simply a joy to take part in the session and spend time with people supported by Community Integrated Care. Seeing the participants having so much fun, and exercising too, was an absolute pleasure.

I know many people are still anxious about Covid-19, so sharing my passion and expertise whilst everyone is in the comfort of their own homes was fantastic. I could see how much today meant to everyone and hope there will be more opportunities to take part in further sessions in the future! After another challenging year, I hope everyone has a great Christmas.”

Oliver Thomason, our charity’s Sports Inclusion Assistant, participated in the session. He said:

“I love dancing and Strictly is one of my favourite shows, so I can’t believe that I had the chance to dance alongside Vincent! The class was so much fun. I learned some great moves that I’ll definitely be using in the future.

“The What To Do website is amazing. I love having the chance to do be part of so many special activities and enjoy these brilliant experiences. I’d like to say a big thank you to Vincent and everyone at Community Integrated Care for making this possible.”

Launched in September, ‘What To Do’ is our charity’s unique online hub, offering free live accessible activities every day, in partnership with leading sports, cultural and community groups.

The website has generously been supported by funding from the NHS. Community Integrated Care is also grateful for the support of Sport England, who has supported the development of the charity’s team that manages programmes of this nature.
