Mansefield House Is On The Move!

An exciting week lies ahead for the people we support at Mansefield House in Kirkcudbright, as they finally move into their brand new purpose-built apartment complex, School Close. And they’ll be sharing every step of the way with us!

Mansfield House on the moveMansefield is one of our oldest and much-loved registered care services, supporting nine adults with learning disabilities in their early 20s to 60s. A couple of years ago, we felt it was the right time for the people we support at Mansefield to move into a supported living model of care, offering them more independence and choice.

So the time has come for our tenants to move into their brand new supported living service, School Close – a state-of-the-art apartment complex, where each flat is tailored to each individual’s specific needs.

This is a huge, life-changing moment for everyone moving to School Close. For the first time in their lives, they will be tenants in not just any home, but their very own home! They’re moving to purpose-built apartments that are fully equipped with the most modern and flexible assisted technologies.

Heather Birnie, Home Manager at Mansefield House says: “We’ve worked really closely with Dumfries & Galloway Council and our local Housing Association to make sure that everything is tailored perfectly to the needs of the people we support. The best bit about it all is that the new apartments are a stone’s throw from Mansefield House, so the guys can remain valued members of the community they know and love. It’s been a long process, but we’re all packed up and ready for move this week.”

Keep up to date with Mansefield’s move into School Close through our video blogs.
