Community Integrated Care Partners with One Voice

Community Integrated Care is proud to announce its exciting partnership with One Voice, a community development charity that promotes greater engagement and social cohesion amongst the most deprived and disadvantaged people of Blackburn.

One Voice LogoOne Voice have joined forces with Community Integrated Care as we prepare to launch EachStep Blackburn, a specialist dementia service in construction on the site of the former Blackburn Royal Infirmary Hospital. The 64-bed care home will provide respite support, residential care and nursing care. Last week, EachStep Blackburn celebrated its Topping Out ceremony.

The £4.8 million service will also offer several amenities for the local community, including a café and public gardens. One Voice will support Community Integrated Care in ensuring the new service is inclusive of all sections of the Blackburn and Darwen community. They will also play a key role in raising awareness of the service, and support with recruitment, volunteering and food provision.

In recognition of our commitment to activities that unite the Blackburn with Darwen community, our charity is proud to be the headline sponsor at the One Voice Community Champion Awards, which will be held on Saturday 27th February at Maida Restaurant in Blackburn.

One Voice has a strong reputation in community engagement in Blackburn and Darwen. Last year it was awarded a Department of Health Excellence Award for their work on the Baiter Sehat (Better Health) campaign, now in its third year.

Community Integrated Care’s Chief Executive Neil Matthewman says: “One Voice is a key partner of Community Integrated Care, as we plan and develop our EachStep Blackburn specialist dementia care home, which opens next summer.

Like our charity, One Voice believe in bringing communities together and making a difference to society, which is why we are keen to work on many great projects together, including our support their Annual Awards. We’re particularly pleased to be sponsoring the Institute of the Year Award, which celebrates other organisations doing good work in the Blackburn and Darwen communities.”

Chairman of One Voice, Abrar Hussain, said: “We all know someone who has been affected by dementia. By partnering with Community Integrated Care, we can help ensure those affected are given the best support and care possible. Those living with dementia require our continued support.

“It is important to remember that the health and well-being of a person with Dementia is associated with the health and well-being of the main carers. As dementia progresses, receiving social care may be the only viable option for families to ensure that the person’s care needs will be met.”

“We will support Community Integrated Care in their aim of ensuring that the service benefits all sections of the local community. We are proud to be chosen by this outstanding organisation to become their partners in EachStep Blackburn.”
