Charlotte Grange ask for Pen Pals

A Community Integrated Care care home in Hartlepool has created a pen pals scheme and has asked the local community for help.

Charlotte Grange Care Home set up the scheme to in a bid to tackle social isolation for the people it supports.

Activities Coordinator Kirsty McMullen, who created the scheme on social media, asked if anyone would be interested in sending letters to the home’s residents as loved ones are currently unable to visit due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus.

Amazingly, Kirsty received over 30 responses from the local community with parents stating that their children would absolutely love to help. And it’s not just letters the home have received! One special delivery included a batch of freshly baked scones.

Wendy Nicholson, Service Manager at Charlotte Grange Care Home said, “We know that letters can bring a real joy to people who are missing seeing their loved ones due to current situation with Coronavirus. We’re already seeing some lovely friendships being created and it’s absolutely heart-warming to see the community pulling together during these times.”

If you’d like to send a letter to the home, please address to: Charlotte Grange Care Home, Flaxton Street, Hartlepool, Cleveland, TS26 9JY.
