Ash View Spreads Festive Cheer And Raises Funds
The team at Community Integrated Care’s Ash View Extra Care service in Huddersfield, has raised hundreds of pounds over recent weeks through a series of community events – the highlight being a Christmas Fair that brought together people who live at Ash View and members of the local community. The fair featured festive stalls, homemade treats, and plenty of seasonal spirit.
Organised by two people who live at Ash View, the event was a resounding success thanks to the generosity of local businesses who donated raffle prizes and hosted stalls, as well as colleagues and volunteers who baked cakes and helped make the day special.Proceeds from the fair alone have already been used to purchase recreational items for the communal area within the service, including a snooker table – providing opportunities for socialising and fun for everyone at the service.
Adding a personal touch, Dan who lives at Ash View and is a budding photographer, captured official photos of the event, ensuring the memories will last long after the decorations come down.
Developed in partnership by Kirklees Council, Ash View provides 50 self-contained, fully accessible flats designed to support residents across many unique needs, including learning disabilities, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and age-related health requirements.
The scheme, which officially opened in September, balances independence and privacy with a safe, supportive home and round-the-clock assistance.
Carolyn Housbey, Service Leader at Ash View, said, “We’re so proud of the people we support and our colleagues for finding new and creative ways to fundraise this festive season. Despite us only officially opening earlier this year, we’ve already created a vibrant community, and we have fantastic connections with our neighbours and local businesses. We were so grateful to see our community come together to make this event such a success. The funds raised will make a real difference to the people who live here, helping us create more spaces where people can relax, socialise and enjoy life.”
