We Join Labour Party Conference Events
Community Integrated Care was proud to attend this year’s Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, showcasing the incredible impact of care and the vital role our charity plays in communities, both locally and across the country.
Our Managing Director for the North West and North East, Samantha Brennan, joined a range of events throughout the conference to support our partners, highlight the value of social care, and shine a light on the amazing difference that our colleagues and the people they support make every day. Samantha was joined by two of our Trustees, Imogen Shillito and Amanda De Ryk, who together helped amplify the voice of our charity at this important national platform.
We were also proud to support the Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG)’s fringe event: ‘From Past to Progress | How Liverpool’s VCSE Sector are Shaping the Future of Adult Social Care.’
The event brought together MPs, commissioners and experts from across the social care sector, exploring the value and creativity of the VCSE sector in Liverpool City Region and hearing from experts by experience, families, carers and care providers.
Discussions focused on how local ideas can support the Government’s ambitions for health and social care, and spotlighted creative models of support that are already transforming lives, communities and the wider economy.
The evening began with a powerful speech from Chris, a person we support in Liverpool, who shared his story of how social care has positively impacted his life. Chris spoke movingly about why social care is so important and the devastating impact society would face if it ceased to exist.
Reflecting on the conference, Sam said, “This was a fantastic opportunity to stand alongside our partners and demonstrate the enormous contribution that social care makes to society. I was especially proud to see Chris open the VODG event with such honesty and passion – he reminded everyone in the room why our work matters so much. We will continue to champion social care at every opportunity and ensure the voices of our colleagues and the people we support are heard.”
Chris said, “It was brilliant to join VODG for their event and speak in front of politicians, councillors and other people living and working in the care sector. Social care has made such a difference in my life, and I wanted people to understand how important it is. Without social care, people wouldn’t get the support they need, and that would affect so many families and communities too. I felt proud to share my story and hope it helps people see why social care needs to always be valued.”
