Support People to Vote in the Local Elections

Community Integrated Care is proud to share our #PromotingOurVoting campaign, sharing resources and advice for people who access care and support, and the people who support them, ahead of the Local Elections Thursday 1st May.
Elections will be held for 23 councils and six mayors in England. Around a third of electors in England are eligible to vote, and more than 1,600 councillors will be elected.

You can check voting constituencies here: Elections in your area | Electoral Commission.

A big part of Community Integrated Care’s vision to enable people to lead the Best Lives Possible comes in empowering people to play an active role in their local community. Voting in Elections provides this opportunity – offering voice and choice on fundamental issues like social care, housing, education, and the environment. Our charity’s #PromotingOurVoting campaign provides accessible advice and resources from registering to vote to taking part in voting on the day.

You can access an easy read guide on registering someone to vote by clicking here.
To Vote in person
Voters now need to present an accepted photo ID at the polling station – such as a UK passport, Driver’s Licence or Blue Badge.
If the person you support does not have an accepted photo ID and wants to vote in person, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate to use in future elections and referendums. Click here to apply – You’ll need to apply by 5pm on 23 April 2025 to get a Voter Authority Certificate for the 1 May 2025 elections in England.

Voting by proxy

People who have a disability can apply for a trusted person to vote on their behalf if they prefer – this is known as a proxy voter. You can apply for someone here. If you’re applying for a proxy vote to vote in the local elections being held in England on 1 May 2025, you must apply by 5pm on 23 April 2025.
