Secretary of State gains Frontline insight into Social Care
On Friday 13th June, Jonathan Reynolds, Secretary of State for Business and Trade and MP for Stalybridge and Hyde, visited our Boulderstone Road supported living service in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester.
Boulderstone Road is a small, person-centred service supporting three adults with a range of support needs, including learning disabilities and autism. During his visit, the Secretary of State was welcomed by our charity’s CEO, Jim Kane, and introduced to Carina Battersby, Regional Manager for our North West regions, and James Paul, the Service Leader at Boulderstone Road. Both shared their experiences of leading frontline teams and championing independence and quality of life for the people we support.
John, someone we support at Boulderstone Road, shared his experiences of life in supported living, offering valuable insight into the positive impact that great social care can have.
The visit was an important opportunity to highlight the crucial role of social care in communities, and to showcase the transformative difference that personalised, compassionate support makes every day. It was brilliant opportunity for John Reynolds MP to see firsthand the impact of great support in action and highlight some the of challenges we face as a sector.
Jim Kane, Community Integrated Care’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “It was a fantastic to welcome Jonathan Reynolds to our Boulderstone Road service and showcase the incredible work our teams do every day to support people to live fulfilling lives in their communities. We were also grateful for the opportunity to share the realities of the challenges that we currently face as a sector and discuss the importance of more support and recognition for social care. It’s vital that we continue to raise awareness and champion the transformative impact that high-quality support can have on people’s lives.”
