We Celebrate #ScotLDWeek25

This week, people supported and our colleagues in Scotland have been proud to celebrate Scottish Learning Disability Week (#ScotLDWeek25) – an important event in promoting the equality of people who have learning disabilities in Scotland.

Aiming to break down barriers and promote the achievements and talents of people with learning disabilities, this year’s theme is ‘I Am Here’ – placing extra focus on the inclusion of people with learning disabilities in all aspects of life – from jobs and healthcare to social events and culture.

In celebration of this theme, people we support in Aberdeen were excited to put on a brilliant dance performance at the Bon Accord Shopping Centre, offering a loud and proud show for all to enjoy!

Following the performance, colleagues and people supported hosted a special stall, alongside Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership and other social care organisations. We’d like to say a big well done to everyone who got involved.

As part of our Scottish Learning Disability Week celebrations, we also highlighted our Inspire By shops, dotted across the Aberdeenshire region, on our social channels this week. From supporting all aspects of running the stores, whether that be pricing products, manning the tills or creating beautiful window displays, to getting involved in environmental projects and community events – the shops offer people we support unique opportunities to build work experience and develop incredible skills.

Alongside this, people we support have built lifelong friendships, and we’re delighted to share that we’ll be opening a new Inspire By store soon, in Aberdeen city!

The people we support make our Inspire By shops the fantastic places they are – thank you to everyone who shared their stories this week.
