Over £4,500 raised during Aberdeen Kiltwalk
A group of around 60 colleagues, people supported by Community Integrated Care, and their friends and family, were proud to take part in this year’s Kiltwalk through Banchory and Aberdeen, covering 4 and 18-mile routes to raise money for our charity.
Armed with a playlist full of motivational and old-school tunes, the group sang and danced their way along the trail, taking in the breathtaking views and picturesque scenery, and cheering one another on.
However, it wasn’t all plain sailing and they braved an assortment of weather conditions as they made their way through Banchory and Aberdeen. Whilst they enjoyed the sunshine for the first 14 miles, a heavy downpour tested the team’s resilience. But the rain only added to the adventure, and spirits remained high as everyone powered through to the finish line, raising an incredible £4,500 for our charity!
Terry, a person we support who participated in the walk, said, “I felt super proud of myself for taking part in the Kiltwalk – I enjoyed every second of it. I did my best to encourage everyone to keep going, especially when things got tough. My favourite part was seeing my team getting soaked in the rain. I was also really happy to finally get my well-earned burger and medal at the end!”
Karen Wood, Head of Operations at Community Integrated Care, said, “It was tough at times with all the weather thrown at us but the atmosphere was amazing. We laughed, sang and kept each other going. A huge well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to everyone who sponsored us and donated!”
Learning and Development Specialist, Eilidh McLean, who raised over £2000 within her group, said, “As a group, we are honestly blown away with over £2000 raised for the people we support, who at the end of the day are the main reason for everything that we do.”
