MPs Visit Our Services
Community Integrated Care was delighted to welcome two Members of Parliament to our services in recent months, offering valuable opportunities to showcase the life-changing impact of high-quality, person-centred social care.
On 31 July, Vikki Slade, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole, visited one of our Bournemouth services, where she met with the people we support and our dedicated colleagues. The visit provided a platform to celebrate the achievements of individuals drawing on care and support, and to highlight the crucial role social care plays in building independence, confidence, and fulfilling lives.
During the tour, people supported by our service proudly welcomed Vikki into their home, sharing their personal stories and reflecting on how the right support has empowered them. From celebrating everyday victories to showcasing individual talents, the visit captured the true spirit of outstanding care.
Caroline Robins, Head of Operations, said: “We had a brilliant day – Vikki was fantastic and genuinely interested in their lives. She asked thoughtful questions and showed a real passion for helping people and learning more about our sector.”
On 19 September, Fabian Hamilton, Labour MP for Leeds North East, visited two of our services in North Leeds. He spent time with the people we support and our frontline teams, learning more about the ways we deliver tailored support for individuals with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
Accompanied by Edd Terrey, Managing Director, and James Brind, Head of Operations, Fabian saw first-hand how our colleagues champion choice, control, and independence every day. The visit also sparked important discussions around the current challenges facing the sector, including fair pay for care workers, recognition for the workforce, and the need for inclusive opportunities in local communities.
Edd Terrey said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Fabian and share the brilliant work of our colleagues and the achievements of the people we support. At Community Integrated Care, we’re proud of our services and the value we bring to thousands of adults across the country. Visits like Fabian’s help shine a light on our charity’s successes, whilst also sharing the barriers and challenges we face. It was great to meet him, and I look forward to continuing the conversation.”
These visits offered a valuable opportunity to engage with political leaders, spotlight the incredible achievements of the people we support, and highlight the urgent need for continued investment and innovation in social care.
We extend our sincere thanks to Vikki Slade and Fabian Hamilton for taking the time to meet with our teams, listen to the voices of those we support, and champion the importance of social care in building stronger, more inclusive communities.
