Academic Partnerships

As a uniquely diverse, ambitious and significant social care charity, Community Integrated Care represents an incredible partner for social care research and academic partnerships.

We’re proud to be members of the NHS’s National Institute for Health Research programme, Enabling Research in Care Homes (ENRICH). We’ve collaborated on many ambitious and important research projects in higher education institutions, working with the likes of University of Manchester, Lancaster University, Edge Hill University, University West of England, and Glasgow Caledonian University.

The people we support have participated in a pioneering artistic research project that explores the impact that touch can have in promoting stimulation and emotional connection in dementia care.

Why partner with us?

Community Integrated Care has a unique ambition, infrastructure and experience that makes us a go-to partner for many academic institutions and researchers:

  • We represent a microcosm of the social care sector – working from the Highlands of Scotland to the south coast of England, with more than 6000 colleagues delivering over 8 million hours of care and support every year.
  • Supporting people who have learning disabilities or are autistic, in mental health recovery, living with dementia, and people who have complex physical and health needs, we represent the diversity of the care sector.
  • Our teams are credible, empowered experts, who are exploring and modelling the best-practice in social care delivery.
  • We offer a wide range of care and support services, from supported living to nursing care, tech-enabled care to innovative community-based programmes.
  • We are a bold charity that understands how to deliver system change – with abilities to convert insights into impact within our charity and across the care sector.

Leading Ground-breaking Research

We have a real history of unlocking and sharing insights that achieve real social change.

This can be seen in our development of Unfair To Care, a groundbreaking analysis of the economic, social and personal impacts of low pay in social care. Working with Korn Ferry, the world’s leading experts in job evaluation, we conceived the first ever research that robustly established a fair market rate for social care workers.

With our research being shared within Downing Street, adopted by major policy institutes and helping to form a new consensus on the need for change, it demonstrates Community Integrated Care’s abilities to convert its unique insights into action.

Student Placements

We have hosted many successful student placements. From giving the University of Chester’s Sports Media undergraduates dream work placements with our sporting partnerships to hosting technical experts, such as psychologists and occupational therapists, we are experienced in scoping placements that build careers and change lives.

We welcome connecting with universities that are interested in how their students can develop their academic passions and career skills – whether that’s in applied research, evaluation or work placements.
