Winter Readiness
Cold weather can put people at greater risk of ill-health because it increases the probability of complications from existing disease, and of injury due to falls. Managers should carry out preparation work for cold weather year-round. Read some of the links below to find out more about winter readiness.
Flu and Covid Vaccinations
All frontline health and social care workers are eligible for free vaccinations and are encouraged to book to receive theirs as soon as possible. You may be asked to show proof of work in the social care sector – this can be your ID Pass or Payslip.
Your Regional Support Manager can also provide you with an eligibility letter for you to take to your appointment, should this be required.
For Colleagues in England
The National Booking Service allows you to make appointments for both vaccinations.
Colleagues can also call 119 for more information on the Covid-19 booster, including booking your appointment and testing. People who use the NHS App can also book or manage a Covid-19 booster vaccination appointment. You must be logged in to the NHS App to do this.

For Colleagues in Scotland
Click here to visit the NHS Inform website to find out more information on receiving both your vaccines, including how to book your appointments.
You can also call the National Vaccination Helpline and arrange your appointments by calling 0800 030 8013.
Flu and Covid Vaccinations: People We Support
It’s essential that the people we support are encouraged to receive both vaccinations too, if they wish. Please ensure you’re having conversations around the importance of receiving the flu jab and Covid-19 booster, and how these can help keep us protected.
