Citizenship and Rights
Community Integrated Care was founded to challenge exclusion and empower disabled people to live full, independent lives. Today, we continue that mission by delivering bold campaigns and programmes that promote citizenship, equality, and human rights.
Our work transforms attitudes, builds skills, and amplifies the voices of people who draw on social care—ensuring they are seen, heard, and included in a more equitable society.
Our Approach
Our work is grounded in three core principles:
- Co-production – Every programme is shaped by the lived experiences and aspirations of the people we support.
- Community connection – We bring people together to challenge prejudice, build understanding and unlock opportunity.
- Lasting change – We empower individuals and influence systems to create a more inclusive society.
Key Programmes and Impact
Our work is diverse, bold and focussed, representing our mission to shape a more inclusion across society. It includes:
- Democracy Pioneers
Recognised by NESTA as one of Britain’s leading innovators in democratic inclusion, we’ve led national campaigns—like Promoting Our Voting—to help people understand and exercise their voting rights. - On The Same Team
Co-produced with people we support and delivered in partnership with Rugby League, this education programme tackles disability hate and prejudice. It has reached over 20,000 young people to date.
- Police Partnerships
We work with police forces to deliver workshops on hate crime, personal safety, and safeguarding—led by people with lived experience. - Portraits of Social Care
In partnership with Open Eye Gallery and photographer Tadgh Devlin, we created a national exhibition celebrating the lives of people who draw on and work in social care. These powerful portraits have been showcased at Parliament and across the UK.
