We Join APPG On Tackling Loneliness

Community Integrated Care contributed to a Westminster roundtable on Monday 15th June, hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Tackling Loneliness and Connected Communities, to explore how social care can play a vital role in addressing loneliness.

A roundtable meeting in a wood-panelled Westminster room, with participants seated around a table using laptops while viewing a large screen displaying a presentation about Community Integrated Care. Edd Terrey is also on screen as a video call participant.Edd Terrey, Managing Director at Community Integrated Care, joined the session which was chaired by Paul Davies MP. Edd represented our charity and shared insight into the barriers facing working-age adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. He highlighted the importance of person-centred support in helping people build meaningful connections and a sense of belonging within their communities.

The discussion focused on practical ways to support inclusion, with Edd outlining how initiatives such as volunteering, digital inclusion, employment opportunities, and strong community partnerships can empower people to develop confidence, form relationships, and gain a greater sense of purpose.

Reflecting on the discussions, Edd said, “Social care has a vital role in helping people build relationships, pursue their interests, and feel part of their communities. It is important that the experiences of working-age adults with support needs are fully reflected in the national conversation on loneliness.”

Insights from the roundtable will contribute to the APPG’s ongoing inquiry and help shape future recommendations aimed at reducing loneliness and strengthening connected communities across the UK.
