Redbridge House Takes On Triathlon Challenge

Colleagues and people we support at our charity’s Redbridge House Supported Living service in Portsmouth are preparing to take on an inspiring triathlon challenge on Sunday 13th September, raising funds to enhance the service’s garden and create even more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

The challenge will bring together people we support, colleagues and family members in a powerful display of teamwork, determination and community spirit. Many of the people we support at Redbridge House have been training hard for the event, with support from their team, as they prepare to take on a route that includes cycling, running and swimming.

Starting at Spice Island, participants will cycle along Portsmouth’s seafront before continuing on foot past the Mountbatten Centre. The challenge will conclude with an outdoor swim at Hilsea Lido, marking an incredible achievement for everyone taking part.

For many participants, the event represents much more than a sporting challenge. It is a chance to build confidence, achieve personal goals and demonstrate what can be achieved when people are supported to pursue new experiences.

Funds raised will help further develop the outdoor space at Redbridge House, creating even more opportunities for the people we support to enjoy social activities, sensory experiences, relaxation and time outdoors throughout the year.

The event has been made possible through months of planning, fundraising and preparation by the people we support, colleagues, families and supporters, all working together towards a shared goal. Their dedication and enthusiasm have helped turn an ambitious idea into a community effort that celebrates inclusion, achievement and the power of people coming together.

Every donation will help support the project and recognise the remarkable efforts of everyone involved – show your support to the team here.

Maddie Kendall, Service Leader for Region 3 said, “This event has been a brilliant team effort, bringing together the people we support, their families and colleagues around a shared goal. It’s been inspiring to see the passion and commitment everyone has shown, not only in preparing for the challenge itself, but in supporting one another throughout the journey. We’re incredibly proud of everyone who has gotten involved and for what we’re achieving together for the people who call Redbridge House home, I can’t wait to see everyone take on the challenge”

Michelle, parent of one of the people we support taking part shared, “It has been so heart warming to see the determination and enthusiasm of everyone who lives in the house and the people who support them as we approach the Triathlon. This is about participating in something special, it’s not a race, it is the house coming together as one, taking on a big challenge and being part of the community of Portsmouth’
