Proud finalists at the GB Care Awards

Five of Community Integrated Care’s fantastic colleagues and teams were honoured this month at the prestigious Great British Care Awards National Finals, which took place in Birmingham on Friday 18th March.

These special accolades bring together the very best of the social care sector, celebrating excellence and paying tribute to those who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the sector.

And whilst we didn’t take home the gold at the national event, we’re so proud of our colleagues’ achievements in being named the best in their respective regions!

Our Great British Care Awards National Finals – Roll of Honour

The Putting People First Award – Greenacres

Our colleagues from Greenacres in South Chailey were nominated in recognition of their ongoing dedication to support with autism and learning disabilities to live their best lives possible. Despite the challenges they faced when opening the service during the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, the team have shown extraordinary commitment to deliver the highest levels of care and have been praised for their inspirational person-centred support.

The Putting People First Award – Bailey Street

Also finalists for the Putting People First Award were our Bailey Street team, who deliver outstanding care to three people with complex needs in Nottingham. During lockdown, Bailey Street worked tirelessly to create innovative activities for the people they support so they could continue to live their best lives possible!

The Care Team Award – Wensley Street

Over in Sheffield, our Wensley Street team were shortlisted for having strong shared vision, excellent communication processes and a passionate dedication to the dignity the people they support. Over the last 18 months, Wensley Street have shown incredible teamwork, truly rising to the challenges of the pandemic, so that the people they support could continue to access many life-changing opportunities.

The Care Home Worker Award – Graham Buckless

Graham Buckless represented our charity as a finalist for the Care Home Worker Award. Although he had only very recently joined Community Integrated Care, Graham showed immense dedication when he chose to move into his service during the pandemic to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infections and continue providing the best possible care to the people he supports.

Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award – Fiona Barrie-Higgins

Last but certainly not least, Fiona Barrie-Higgins, our Regional Manager in Scotland, was shortlisted for the most highly-coveted accolade of the evening – the Outstanding Contribution to Social Care! The nomination recognised her work in the social care sector over the past 20 years, as well as her adaptability and leadership at the height of the pandemic. When 80% of her staff team were self-isolating, Fiona was quick-thinking and resourceful, drafting in colleagues from across the region to maintain the right levels of care for people supported, as well as selflessly working shifts herself too.

Community Integrated Care would like to give a huge congratulations to all of our finalists for their extraordinary achievements and for showcasing the very best in social care.
