Empowering Excellence across the Care Sector

As a leading organisation in social care, we’re always striving to stay at the forefront of sector advancements and best practices. One of the key ways we achieve this is by actively participating in conferences and events, enabling us to keep up to date with sector trends, as well as giving us the opportunity to share the success of our own innovations.

In 2023, our leaders have already embarked on an insightful journey by attending some of the most prestigious care sector conferences. This includes the Laing Buisson Social Care Conference, VODG Annual Summit, and multiple Care Roadshow events  – all renowned for their thought-provoking discussions and expert speakers.

Our MD for the North West, Sam Brennan, on a panel at Care Roadshows in Liverpool.

We’ve also been thrilled to have the opportunity to discuss some of our own outstanding projects and work:

  • Our pioneering approach to flexibility has inspired our sector, with Teresa Exelby, our Chief Corporate Services & People Officer, recently being invited to share our charity’s journey at VODG’s HR Directors Forum. Attended by HR leaders in social care, Teresa provided guidance on transitioning to a four-day working week and discussed flexible working options for frontline colleagues.
  • At the recent Care Roadshow in Liverpool Samantha Brennan, our Managing Director for the North West, joined forces with leaders from across the sector to discuss raising the profile of social care. Presenting our ground-breaking Unfair To Care research, Samantha demonstrated the complexity, responsibility, and demands of Support Worker roles, examined recruitment strategies to attract people to our sector, and shared the importance of investing in the wellbeing of our workforce.
  • Our Managing Director for Technology Enabled Care, Joanna Scammell, has meanwhile been sharing the learnings and successes from our innovative work in TEC across the sector. Presenting at the National Care Forum’s CEO and Director’s Conference earlier this year, Jo shared how our charity has been leading the way in harnessing the power of TEC to enhance support and improve people’s independence. Recognising her expertise in the area, Jo was also invited to be a guest judge at the prestigious Care Innovation Challenge, as well as joining NCF’s Inspirational Speaker series on Women in Technology for Social Care.

We look forward to attending and sharing our knowledge at more sector events across the year, engaging with key people across the sector to bring positive change to social care.
