We talk technology on CMM podcast

This week, our Managing Director for Technology Enabled Care, Joanna Scammell, was delighted to feature on Care Management Matters Magazine (CMM)’s ‘Off the Page’ podcast, where she joined the conversation around ‘The Future of Technology in Social Care’.

On the podcast, social care leaders come together with CMM’s editorial team to disseminate best practice and share take-home advice to tackle a range of issues impacting the sector.

Joining host Olivia Hubbard, Joanna shared more about how our charity is supporting people to live independent lives through the use of technology – alongside fellow guests, Professor Vic Rayner OBE, Chief Executive of the National Care Forum, and Adam Hunt, previously Digital Transformation Lead at the National Care Forum.

Speaking on the podcast, Joanna described some of the benefits of implementing technology into the way we work, sharing: “We’ve been working with a gentleman who had two very short physical calls per week, and he now has a call every single day. He’s just been on his very first holiday – so he really had the confidence to do something that he wouldn’t have done before, because he knew he had the support and the backup.”

“We have created a centralised on-call team using tech that enables colleagues to, 99% of the time, have the weekends and evenings off. We want people to stay in the sector, we want them to enjoy what they do, and part of that is using technology to make our workforce more sustainable and enable them to have proper breaks.”
