‘The Forgotten Frontline’ Wins Top TV Award

We’re delighted to share that Community Integrated Care’s documentary with the BBC One Panorama programme – ‘The Forgotten Frontline’ – has won a prestigious award at the Royal Television Society Television Journalism awards.

The annual event showcases the most moving and impactful media features from throughout the year and we’re proud to see the programme win the award for Best Current Affairs feature.

To help create the programme, back in March 2020, we approached producers for the BBC’s flagship current affairs series and invited them to follow our frontline heroes, as we worked through the challenges ahead.

Documentary makers spent four months at EachStep Blackley, charting the team’s journey through the peak of the pandemic, as well as following the story of our senior leadership team as they coordinated our organisational response.

Covering the gut-wrenching tragedy of a Covid outbreak and the passing of much-loved residents, to the endless love, compassion and bravery of our colleagues and families, as well as the hope spurred by dramatic recoveries from Covid-19, the programme powerfully captured the light and shade of care in the crisis.

The final programme aired in July 2020 to much critical acclaim. It grabbed national attention and was the top trending topic across social media platforms, with thousands of people reaching out to share messages of thanks and support for our colleagues.

We are proud of to be involved in the making of this important feature and thank the BBC for telling such an important story.
