Platinum Wedding Anniversary at EachStep Blackburn

A special celebration was held this week at EachStep Blackburn Care Home, as two people we support, Teddy and Marion Suligowski, celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary! 

Teddy and Marion, 94 and 90 years old respectively, met when working at Stanhill Mill, in Oswaldtwistle, when Marion was only 19 years old. Their wedding day took place just over a year later in 1949, back when George VI was on the throne and Clement Attlee was the UK’s Prime Minister! Both have lived in Blackburn all their married lives and have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

On their celebratory day, Teddy and Marion received an abundance of cards, including an extra special one from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who sent warm congratulations to the couple on their platinum anniversary!

The couple celebrated with a glass of prosecco, a special cake and balloons to mark the occasion, surrounded by their family, friends and fellow residents at EachStep Blackburn. Remembering their last 70 years of marriage together, they listened to music from days when they were younger.
