Mayor of Halton Hears from People Supported by Our Charity

People supported by Community Integrated Care welcomed the Mayor of Halton, Councillor Pamela Wallace, to the charity’s head office in Widnes on Tuesday 15^th September to discuss life in Halton and the issues that matter most to local people who draw on care and support.

Members of Community Integrated Care’s Halton Voice Group, joined colleagues from across the charity to share their experiences directly with a local leader, celebrating what makes Halton a great place to live while reflecting on the opportunities, challenges and changes they would like to see in the future.

The conversation explored topics including community, inclusion and local leadership, with attendees putting their own questions to the Mayor. Questions ranged from what being Mayor of Halton means to Councillor Wallace and the lessons she learned from her own experience as a carer, to what makes a community truly inclusive and how life in Halton could be improved for future generations.

Creating opportunities for people to engage with local leaders and decision-makers is an important part of Community Integrated Care’s commitment to ensuring people’s voices are heard on the issues that affect their lives. Through its Voice Groups and wider co-production work, the charity supports people to share their views, influence change and play an active role in shaping their communities.

“Today was a powerful reminder of the value of listening. The people we support spoke with confidence, passion and pride about their lives, their communities and the issues that matter most to them in Halton.

Opportunities like this help ensure that people who access care are not only included in important conversations, but help to shape them. We are incredibly grateful to the Mayor for taking the time to listen, engage and hear directly from the people we support.”

The Mayor of Halton, Councillor Pamela Wallace, added:

The visit highlighted some of the excellent work taking place within our communities, while also demonstrating the real value of creating opportunities for people with lived experience to be heard, valued and included when it comes to shaping the future of their communities.

Their voices, experiences and ideas matter, and by working together we can help build stronger, more inclusive communities for everyone.”
