Liverpool Legend features on What To Do

On Friday 9th December, to celebrate the FIFA World Cup, football fans were treated to a special experience on our charity’s What To Do platform, when they were joined by ex-professional footballer, Liverpool legend and pundit Mark Lawrenson.

Mark Lawrenson Q&A with Community Integrated Care

The former Reds defender joined What To Do for an exclusive event and was put through his paces in a Match of the Day Q&A, facing tricky questions from participants as they looked back on his successful career as a footballer, commentator and pundit.

The fun-filled session saw participants commentating on some of the most famous World Cup goals of all time. These included Robin Van Persie’s spectacular flying header for Holland against Spain in 2014, and the infamous Diego Maradona ‘Hand of God’ goal against England in 1986.

Lewis Webster, Sports Inclusion Communications Manager at Community Integrated Care, was thrilled with the session. He said, “Community Integrated Care supports people to live their best life possible, and this goes hand-in hand with creating unique and accessible once-in-a-lifetime opportunities such as this. We’d like to thank Mark for his time and helping to make this an incredible experience which will be remembered by our football fans for a long time.”

He continued, “Isolation, loneliness, and lack of access to opportunities are huge issues faced by people with learning disabilities, autism, dementia and age-related concerns. Our programmes are specially designed to engage people who require greater levels of interaction and have the opportunity to develop skills, confidence and showcase their talents.”

Community Integrated Care’s free ‘What To Do’ website provides people who access care and support with daily accessible online live activity sessions and special, once-in-a-lifetime events. Find out more and see our full line-up, including our special ’12 DOs of Christmas’ events here.
