Highlights from our Best Lives Possible Roadshow

On Tuesday 4th October, we welcomed over 400 of our charity’s leaders from across the UK, to our Best Lives Possible Roadshow.

Hosted at The Point in Old Trafford, the event brought together Service Leaders, Regional Managers, GameChangers and people we support from each of our regions, to explore our charity’s bold new vision and inspire our teams.

With a range of thought-provoking speakers and sessions, including a panel discussion with our Inclusive Volunteers, led by BBC Presenter Ross Fiddes, and an inspirational talk from Rugby League World Cup Ambassador, James Simpson, the day showcased what Best Lives Possible means to our charity and its impact on the people we support.

Our Managing Director of Technology Enabled Care, Joanna Scammell, also took to the stage to present the future plans and current position of our charity’s Assistive Technology project, which first gained pace at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Following an introduction to set the scene, a powerful video captured the real-life example of Cath and Ken who live with learning disabilities yet achieve as much independence as possible thanks to their tailored Technology Enabled Care package.

We were also delighted to welcome our Trustee, Jay Muthu, to host a special Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Panel featuring a broad range of inspirational guest speakers, including Ashanti Bentil-Dhue, Owner and Director of the amazing podcast – Confessions of a DEI Pro, and Christian Owens, Founder of GenderSpace. The panel discussed the importance of EDI in the workplace – and how this impacts not only our colleagues but also for the people we support – and shared their expertise, advice and lived experiences of breaking down barriers and championing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.

On the day, we also unveiled our new Best Lives Possible video – our very own showcase of the power of social care.

This film celebrates what makes our charity so special – the people we support, and the people who support them – and our unwavering dedication to delivering the Best Lives Possible every day.
