Gillian Edwards wins Care Leadership Award!

Community Integrated Care is proud to have been recognised at the National Care Awards. The event, which took place in London, saw Community Integrated Care shortlisted in three fantastic categories, with Leicester Service Leader, Gillian Edwards taking home the Care Leadership Award. National Care Awards

The National Care Awards is the longest established annual care awards, and is organised by social care’s leading publication, Caring Times. Caring Times reflects the opinion leaders in the social care sector, focusing on news affecting the private, public and not-for-profit providers of nursing and residential care.

The Awards were devised to celebrate the very best people in the care sector, highlighting excellence and rewarding those who work tirelessly to provide consistently outing care.

Epitomising this is Gilmorton in Leicester, where Service Leader, Gillian Edwards, won the amazing ‘Care Leadership’ Award. The team at Gilmorton supports 15 people with Learning Disabilities to live the fullest lives possible.

Judges said, “Gillian is a natural leader, evidencing excellent leadership skills, putting the resident’s needs at the forefront of all decisions and ensuring staff are supported from the very start. The Judges felt that she is an excellent, innovative and reflective leader”.

Martin McGuigan, Managing Director of South & Central says: “This would not be made possible if it wasn’t for Gillian and her great leadership skills, kind nature and caring ways for both the people we support, and our colleagues.”

He continued, “Gillian collected this accolade amongst beating off competition from Managing Directors and Senior Leaders from national organisations as the judges believed her person-centred leadership truly shown through. It’s great to see that our colleagues are being recognised for being the very best of the social care sector.”

Also shortlisted on the night was Michelle Phillips for the Dementia Care Manager Award and Frankie Conroy for the Activities Coordinator Award – both from EachStep Blackley in Manchester. To even be shortlisted for these events show a true testament to the fantastic work and dedication our colleagues put into their working lives day in and day out.
