Eccleston Court Take Part In 10 Mile Memory Walk

Eccleston Court care home took on a 10 mile fun-walk across Taylor Park in St Helens and enjoyed a special picnic celebration on Friday, raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Eccleston Court Memory WalkThe people we support at the care home, their loved ones, and staff, took part in a nationwide ‘Memory Walk’, securing £360 in sponsorship. On one of the warmest days of the year, the group enjoyed a leisurely walk that lasted half a day, before celebrating with a picnic next to the lake.

Eccleston Court is a nursing home in St Helens, which provides specialist care and support to 54 older people.

Taylor Park was one of 31 venues across the United Kingdom to host this year’s ‘Memory Walk’. The event sees thousands of people raise money for the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity. Memory Walks bring together people of all ages and backgrounds to honour and celebrate loved ones affected by dementia.

Janet Fitzgerald, Assistant Service Manager at the home, said: “As a specialist dementia care home, we passionately support the Alzheimer’s Society and were delighted to raise so much money.”

She continues: “A real highlight was the celebratory picnic, where the people we support had a great time with their families and staff. It’s vitally important that our residents spend quality time outdoors, so we worked hard to plan the best day possible. The smiles on everyone’s faces made our hard work worthwhile.”
