Double win at North West Care Awards!

Community Integrated Care are proud to have been awarded two prestigious care sector accolades at the Great North West Care Awards on Saturday (24th July).

The evening saw our North West colleagues celebrate as they took home the ‘Care Innovator Award’ for our partnership with the Rugby Football League, Super League and Rugby League World Cup 2021, and the ‘Putting People First Award’ for the Mill Point service team.

The ‘Care Innovator Award’ is in recognition of our ground-breaking initiatives, in partnership with the Super League, Rugby Football Leaugue and the Rugby League World Cup 2021, to create innovative, inclusive and engaging programmes for people with learning disabilities and autism. The award also celebrated the achievements of the Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League as the world’s only example of a professional sports league sharing its brand with a learning disability sports programme.

We are also delighted for the Mill Point team for winning the ‘Putting People First Award’ which recognises a team that has truly embraced the ‘Putting People First’ agenda and demonstrates an innovative approach to empowering people to have more control over the support they need in their lives.

Oliver Thomason, Sports Inclusion Assistant and Learning Disability Super League player attended the ceremony and was delighted to be there to celebrate the win. He said:

“It was absolutely brilliant to attend the Great British Care Awards on Saturday and for our charity to win the honour of the Care Innovator Award.

As a Learning Disability Super League player I’m really proud of all the things the charity are doing to make rugby more inclusive and accessible for people with learning disabilities and autism. I know how great it feels and I’m excited for the many more amazing opportunities that it will provide for the people we support.”

Samantha Brennan, Managing Director for the North West, said:

‘We are incredibly proud of the Mill Point team for winning the ‘Putting People First’ Award. It is a true testament to the hard work and innovative thinking that the team put in each and every day, to ensure that the people we support live their best lives possible.”

Saturday’s awards ceremony took place at The Kimpton Hotel in Manchester and forms part of the Great British Care Award’s regional events that celebrate excellence across the sector. The ceremonies continue to take place throughout this month across other regions, with Community Integrated Care celebrating 24 finalists in total.

Winners from the regional events will go through to a National Finals taking place later this year.
