Congratulations to our London Marathon runners

Community Integrated Care would like to extend its sincere congratulations to our London Marathon runners, Wais Zamani and Oliver Marshall, who successfully completed the 26 mile challenge.

The pair are Community Integrated Care’s first ever entrants into the world’s most famous marathon.

Wais Zamani, Community Integrated Care Service Manager for the North East, completed the race in 5 hours, 27 minutes, to raise money for our Independent Living services. The money he raised will be used to purchase self-advocacy training for the people we support.

Wais says, “From the first moment I joined Community Integrated Care in 2005 as a care worker, I was overwhelmed by the incredible passion of the people who work for, and are supported by, this wonderful charity. It is this sense of community spirit which inspired me to do something amazing to support our charity – and what better way than taking on the huge challenge of The London Marathon?!”

Oliver Marshall, a sixth form student whose family work for Community Integrated Care, completed the race in 4 hours, 41 minutes. He says, “I’ve been lucky enough to meet some of the people Community Integrated Care supports and see first-hand how hard people work for the charity, so I decided that taking part in the race would be a good way for me to give back to a great organisation. I chose to run for Community Integrated Care’s Senior Care services as a way to remember my granddads, who have both passed away.”
