Community Integrated Care Welcomes French Health Foundation

This week Community Integrated Care welcomed 16 representatives from the French health foundation, John Bost, to share our knowledge and expertise of supporting people with complex learning and physical disabilities.

Community Integrated Care and John Bost Representatives from John Bost are currently visiting North West England on a study tour to gain a better understanding of the UK’s social care sector and see how organisations support people with disabilities to lead fully inclusive lives.

On Monday 15th May, they met with our charity to see first-hand how we supports people with learning disabilities and mental health concerns.

Our Interim Chief Executive, Phil Pegler, met with the visitors to explain how over 30 years, our charity has grown from a small care provider in Widnes, to one of the largest and most successful social care charities in the UK.

The group also visited Glenwood Care Home, which supports 10 people with complex physical and learning disabilities. Here they learnt about how the home’s refurbished living environment and community engagement projects, such as their partnership with Widnes Vikings Rugby League Club, has enhanced the lives of the people they support.

Gilles Camincher, Project Manager of John Bost, said: “We have had a very inspiring afternoon with Community Integrated Care, learning about their care provision. We were particularly impressed with their person-centred approaches and constant drive to review and improve their model of care.

Gilles continued: “We really enjoyed meeting the staff and people supported at Glenwood Care Home. They do so much to ensure their residents lead inclusive and fulfilled lives and the work they do with Widnes Vikings is very interesting. There are so many learnings that we can take back to France with us.”

Phil Pegler, Interim Chief Executive Officer for Community Integrated Care, said: “Our charity was delighted to welcome John Bost today. This collaboration has demonstrated how valuable it has been to share our knowledge and expertise and gain a better understanding of the international social care landscape.

Phil continued: “We look forward to developing our relationship with John Bost and would highly recommend other social care organisations to embrace international collaboration.”
