Community Integrated Care announces ‘EachStep’

Community Integrated Care (CIC) is proud to announce that it is developing a new state-of-the-art dementia service in the Charlestown area of Blackley, Manchester.

The service, which will be built for Spring 2012, will be branded under the name of ‘EachStep’, representing the Community Integrated Care’s commitment to supporting people with dementia throughout every stage of their condition.

In offering all four services (home care, day care, respite and residential support) from one location, EachStep will be able to support people with dementia throughout every stage of their condition.

Community Integrated Care commences the first stage of the EachStep development this month when it launches a specialist dementia home care service. This service sees specially trained staff support people with the condition in North Manchester to continue to live independently in their own home, providing assistance with day-to-day activities, as well as offering respite to family carers and support in crisis situations.

The home care service will be followed by the build of the specialist dementia service, with construction of the £5 million building expected to take around 16 months.

The new service will incorporate a care home which will provide 24-hour residential and nursing support for 48 people a short-term respite service for 12 people to assist them in their recovery from illness or injury, or give their family carers a break as well as a day service which will give people with the condition the opportunity to spend a day with company, enjoying engaging activities.

The building has been designed by award winning architects Pozzoni to facilitate the best possible lifestyle for people with dementia and will include specialist lighting, furnishings and assistive technologies to encourage the independence and comfort of EachStep’s clients. It will also include a number of facilities for members of the local community to enjoy including a café and public gardens.

All staff employed by the service will be given extensive training and support, receiving specialist dementia training and qualifications.

Sue McLean, Community Integrated Care Group Director of Senior Care, said “EachStep is an innovative service that is set to make a great impact on the North Manchester community. Dementia is a challenging condition for sufferers and their loved ones. Our service will be able to help them through any difficulties they may face by offering specialist support delivered by highly trained, caring staff and exceptional facilities.

“Community Integrated Care (CIC) is one of the biggest charity providers of dementia care and support in the UK and already assists almost 1000 older people in the Manchester area. EachStep is the culmination of our decades of experience in delivering care services and our strong links with the local community in Manchester.”
