Our supporters prepare for London Marathon

With only a few weeks left until the 2012 London Marathon, two supporters of Community Integrated Care are busy preparing to raise money for our charity by taking part in the 26 mile challenge.

Wais Zamani, Service Manager for the North East, is raising money for our Independent Living services, which will be used to purchase self-advocacy training for the people we support.

Wais says, “From the first moment I joined Community Integrated Care in 2005 as a care worker, I was overwhelmed by the incredible passion of the people who work for, and are supported by, this wonderful charity. It is this sense of community spirit which inspired me to do something amazing to support our charity – and what better way than taking on the huge challenge of The London Marathon?!”

He is joined by Oliver Marshall, a sixth form student whose family work for Community Integrated Care. Oliver says, “I’ve been lucky enough to meet some of the people Community Integrated Care supports and see first-hand how hard people work for the charity, so I decided that taking part in the race would be a good way for me to give back to a great organisation. I chose to run for Community Integrated Care’s Senior Care services as a way to remember my granddads, who have both passed away.”

Money raised by Oliver will be used to fund specialist equipment in our services that support people with dementia.
