CIC manager recognised at North West Care Awards

Martin Holmes, who manages CIC’s Norfolk Road service in Carlisle, collected The Care Home Registered Manager Award at the North West Care Awards, in recognition of his excellent approach to supporting adults with complex learning difficulties.

Martin Holmes and colleagues celebrate at the Great North West Care AwardsThe awards, which are supported by the Department of Health, are part of the Great British Care Awards, a series of regional awards which celebrate excellence in social care and pay tribute to those who work in the sector throughout England.  The awards were hosted by David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh, better known as Roy and Hayley Cropper from Coronation Street.

The judging panel commented that Martin “shone as a remarkable individual, who pushed boundaries, taking manageable risks with his innovative ideas and through supportive leadership he made them a reality, making a huge difference to people’s lives.”

As a regional winner, Martin will now go forward to the national final to be held next year in London.

Martin said: “It is a truly great honour to have collected this award. The Great North West Care Awards are renowned as a showcase of best practice, dedication and innovation in the care sector, so to be recognised by them for my work is an overwhelming accolade.”

He adds, “However, the work we do at Norfolk Road to ensure that the people we support are able to enjoy full, happy and independent lives, is very much a team effort, and recognition must also be given to the whole of my staff time for their continued hard work and dedication.”
