Overwhelmed by close-knit community

Community Integrated Care, a local social care charity has been overwhelmed with the amount of generous donations received from the Caithness community during the Coronavirus crisis.

Community Integrated Care supports people with learning disabilities across Caithness and has said thanks to local people and businesses after receiving a range of donations to support their colleagues during these difficult times.

One contribution from a local businessman has meant that colleagues who would have been unable to attend work, due to the cancellation of bus routes across the region, can continue to do so allowing Community Integrated Care to remain providing life-changing support to the most vulnerable people in the Caithness community.

The contribution comes from Caithness local, Arthur Bruce, who has loaned the charity a property, free of charge, on a temporary basis during the Coronavirus crisis. This has meant that colleagues, 3 of which live almost 10 miles outside of the town, have a place to stay locally near to their place of work and don’t need to rely on public transport.

Other donations include hand sanitizer from Caithness Building Supplies, 30 masks from local schoolteacher Chris Aitken, air beds from Tesco Community Champion Karen Center and gloves and aprons from Angie Campbell at Caithness General Hospital – all of which will help colleagues at Community Integrated Care continue to deliver their life-changing work.

The amount of community spirit we’ve seen over the past few weeks has been phenomenal – there is so much support for charities like ours and for that we’re truly thankful.”
