Celebrating Volunteer Week!

Beginning on 1st June, Volunteer Week is now in full swing, celebrating the efforts of volunteers across the entire country. To mark the occasion, we’re shining a light on our Inclusive Volunteering Programme.

Celebrating our Inclusive Volunteers

Created in collaboration with the Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021), our Inclusive Volunteering Programme offers people with care and support needs the chance to:

  • Meet other people with similar passions and make new friends,
  • Receive specialist mentoring and development opportunities,
  • And volunteer at exciting Rugby League events.

From media and photography to baking and gardening, the scheme caters to a wide range of interests – there’s something for everybody to get involved in.

One of the Inclusive Volunteers’ most recent achievements includes facilitating a special What To Do activity session featuring Ruben Reuter. Ruben is an actor and news reporter with learning disabilities who has starred in popular BBC TV shows, broken down barriers and done truly incredible things. The session aimed to inspire other people with learning disabilities to reach for their dreams!

We also saw some incredible outcomes last year, with our Inclusive Volunteers achieving amazing life goals – from creating a World Cup inspired song with a hit producer, to DJing to a crowd of excited fans, to hosting the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final press conference!

With the programme shortlisted at the Leaders Sports Awards last year and at this year’s National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards, Inclusive Volunteering is changing lives and making dreams come true.
