Celebrating Pride Month

From launching our Colleague Inclusion Networks, to sharing inspiring Pride-themed posts, throughout June, Community Integrated Care have been proud to show our support for the LGBTQ+ community in many different ways.

Beginning the month strong, our charity’s Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing Specialist shared her top ‘People to be Proud of’ on our colleague-exclusive social media platform, Yammer, and across our social media channels. Highlighting influential people across the spectrums of gender and sexuality, this mini campaign excellently showcased the inspiring work being done by members of the queer community, providing greater representation for LGBTQ+ voices and promoting some incredible organisations and initiatives to our colleagues.

Next, our partners at Everymind At Work hosted an exclusive Pride-themed webinar. Discussing how stigma in the workplace can be reduced, and how our colleagues can become true allies to their peers, the webinar was completely free for Community Integrated Care’s staff, and even featured discussions with special guest, Michael Stephens – the founder of We Create Space.

Further into June, we shared a wide range of resources with our colleagues, from an extensive list of Pride Parades to a comprehensive collection of ways to support the LGBTQ+ community – whether it be by listening to a new podcast or buying from queer-owned businesses.

Furthermore, we shared an insightful blog post from Managing Director for our Central region, Candice York, speaking on the origins and continued need for Pride, at a time when LGBTQ+ people are disproportionately affected by mental health issues, and transphobic attacks are on the rise.

In the spirit of acceptance, we closed the month with a beautiful Pride-themed poem, penned by Hollie Shenton, who works within our Vocational Support Services.

Plus, we were excited to host a special Pride-themed disco on What To Do, bringing our colleagues together online, from across the country, to round out this important month.

However, our support for the LGBTQ+ community does not end now that July has arrived. As announced on Tuesday, we’re pleased to be launching our Colleague Inclusion Networks, including a special LGBTQIA+ network, dedicated to queer colleagues.
