Care services walk for hospice

Staff and tenants from two Community Integrated Care services in Govan that support people with learning disabilities joined forces to raise money for a local hospice, by donning their stripes and participating in a ‘Where’s Wally’ themed sponsored health walk.

A fundraising team of 16 staff and tenants from Community Integrated Care’s Elder Grove Court and Elder Grove Place services, took to the pavements to raise money for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow, which provides specialist care for people with terminal illnesses.

The services held this event to mark Glasgow City Council’s ‘Big Fit Walk’ initiative , which aims to encourage the people of the city to take steps towards a healthier lifestyle by becoming more active.

Carol Beavis, Home Manager at Elder Grove, said: “We wanted to give something back to the local community and have fun at the same time too, so our ‘Where’s Wally Walk’ was a fantastic experience. The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice is such a worthy cause, so I’m really proud of the team for taking part and supporting them.”
