The ‘Putting People First Award’ is in recognition of teams who have demonstrated an innovative approach to empowering people and embraced a ‘putting people first’ approach to supporting people.

Bailey Street is an enhanced service which provides support to people with complex needs in Nottingham. The team work incredibly hard to ensure that they provide the people they support with truly personalised support and opportunities to develop new skills and independence.

Throughout lockdown the team went above and beyond, using their collective knowledge and dedicated a lot of time to coming up with new activities to engage and interest the people they support. The whole team were creative, enthusiastic and curious, working tirelessly to think outside the box.

Candice York,  Managing Director for Community Integrated Care’s Central Region, said:

“We’re so proud of Bailey Street for winning the Putting People First Award at the Great East Midlands Care Awards 2021. The team have worked incredibly hard over the years to provide high quality, person led support which has led to the ladies living there truly being able to live their best lives possible. The last 18 months have been particularly challenging and the team rose to the occasion magnificently.

The Bailey Street team are creative, enthusiastic and passionate about delivering the right support at the right time to the 3 unique ladies they have the pleasure of working with. We’re thrilled that they’ve been recognised for all their hard work!

We’re also very proud of Gemma Johnson who was shortlisted for Social Care Covid Hero Award. Her commitment to supporting people has been outstanding and to be nominated was a real honour.”

Last night’s awards ceremony took place at East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham and forms part of the Great British Care Award’s regional events that celebrate excellence across the sector. Winners from the regional events will go through to a National Finals taking place in March 2022.
