DHSC colleagues visit our service in Leeds

On Friday 10 April, Community Integrated Care welcomed colleagues from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the National Care Forum (NCF) to one of our charity’s supported living services in Leeds, providing a valuable opportunity to explore social care policy priorities and the real-life experiences of people who draw on support.

Seven people sat around a dining table, smiling to camera.During the visit, DHSC policy leads met directly with the people we support, listening to first-hand accounts of navigating the social care system and what good support means to them. The conversation also explored the pressures facing commissioning, wider system priorities, and key messages from Community Integrated Care’s Unfair To Care report.

The visit created space for open and honest discussion about the future of social care and the importance of ensuring people’s voices remain central to policy development.

James Brind, Head of Operations at Community Integrated Care, said, “It was fantastic to welcome colleagues from DHSC to our Leeds service. Visits like this are incredibly important – they give policy leaders the chance to hear directly from the people who draw on support and from the teams delivering care every day. We’re grateful for their time, openness and engagement with us, and for the opportunity to share what’s working, the challenges we face, and why meaningful investment in social care matters so much.”

The visit follows the launch of our latest Unfair To Care report, which champions the moral and economic case for investing in social care and the true value of the people who deliver it. Find out more at www.UnfairToCare.co.uk
