We Sign Letter On Tackling Health Inequalities
Community Integrated Care has joined organisations from across the sector in signing a national open letter, calling for urgent action to address health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities.
The letter, led by Learning Disability England’s National Policy Leads Network, is currently open for signatures until the 8th July. Addressed to the Prime Minister, it calls for a renewed focus on improving health outcomes and ensuring people with learning disabilities can live longer, healthier lives.
It highlights ongoing concerns that people with learning disabilities continue to face significant and avoidable inequalities in healthcare, and that current national approaches don’t go far enough to address these challenges.
By signing the letter, Community Integrated Care is supporting three key calls to action:
- The creation of a new national programme and strategy for people with learning disabilities
- Greater focus and accountability to tackle health inequalities
- Stronger national leadership to ensure meaningful and lasting change
Jim Kane, Chief Executive Officer at Community Integrated Care, said, “We’re proud to stand alongside Learning Disability England and partners across the sector in calling for urgent action to tackle health inequalities. People with learning disabilities deserve equitable access to healthcare and the opportunity to live healthy, fulfilling lives. This letter represents a collective voice that must be heard. We encourage others to support the initiative so we can amplify the voices of people with learning disabilities and strengthen the call for change.”
