Two Leaders Shortlisted for Scottish Care Awards

We are proud to share that two outstanding members of our team, Heather Birnie and Shaun Duthie, were named finalists in the Scottish Care at Home and Housing Support Awards in Glasgow on Friday 16th May.

The Scottish Care at Home and Housing Support Awards, hosted by Scottish Care, celebrate people who have made a significant contribution to the care at home and housing support sector across the country. This year, both Heather and Shaun have been recognised for their exceptional commitment, leadership and impact.

Heather, who has been a part of Community Integrated Care for over 36 years and has this month retired from the charity, was shortlisted for the Positive Impact Award. With over three decades of dedication to social care, she has continually changed countless lives. One of Heather’s most impactful achievements has been leading efforts to support people transitioning from care homes into more independent lives through our supported living services.Shaun and Heather at the Scottish Care at Home and Housing Awards

Shaun, who took home the Emerging Talent accolade on the evening, was recently promoted to the role of Service Leader. His exceptional leadership skills were proven during a recent care inspection in Aberdeen City, where all of the services he leads receiving excellent ratings, including multiple grades of 4s and 5s.

Sara Murphy, Managing Director for Community Integrated Care, said, “Heather and Shaun have each demonstrated exceptional dedication and hard work. Their passion and consistent efforts have made a meaningful impact and they are both truly deserving of this recognition. It’s so inspiring to see their contributions acknowledged in this way.”

Shaun said, “I am so grateful I have been presented this award – it’s a reflection of the amazing team I work with and the people we support every day. I’m passionate about supporting services that make a difference and I am so proud of what we’ve achieved together.”

We congratulate both Heather and Shaun on these well-earned achievements. Their professionalism and passion continue to inspire colleagues and uplift the lives they support every day.
